Commission for a sculpture that honors the works of the 16th century painter Casper van Wittel.
Van Wittel's paintings are characterized by highly perspective cityscapes. The viewer is more or less forced to look into the depth. A kind of three-dimensional viewing tunnel is created. I have multiplied and stacked this imaginary form. The result is an object that invites you to look inside. A multiple "camera obscura". Containing Italian cityscapes by Casper van Wittel but also a direct cityscape of Amersfoort. The object gives a direct cut-out on one of Amersfoort's most famous cityscapes, the Koppelpoort. And because the artwork is placed in the public space, it itself becomes part of a cityscape.
